My Mother passes away three years ago and had not lived in her home for three years prior to her passing. She had a reverse mortgage, my sister received a letter stating that she was being sued. Her name was not on the deed or the loan, should she be repaying the loan?
Your sister is not liable for paying off your mother's reverse mortgage. She should immediately contact the lender and clarify the matter. If none of you want to save the property, then you can ask the lender to foreclose the property and recover the dues.
