i had a 2nd thru wamu...who went under and chase took over their loans. i had a verbal agreement with wamu for reduced interest rate...i was making new reduced payment to wamu and then to chase when they took over.
about 3 months ago i received letter and phone calls from collection agency trying to collect my second mortgage loan. i tried contacting chase but i was told they had charged it off and would not speak to me any further.
i sent letter to collection agency demanding signed copies of my loan paperwork 6 weeks ago and collection agency has not been able to provide it and has not contacted me. but they did cease calling me once they received my letter.
if they cannot locate my paperwork what happens next?

Hi mfranklyours,
It would have been better if you had a written document from WAMU regarding the reduction in your interest rates. If the collections agency cannot show the proof that they own your account, they won't be able to collect the dues from you or harass you.
Thanks
