Posted on: 04th Mar, 2013 05:46 am
my now ex wife forged my signature and obtained a $50,000 line of credit using our maritial home as collateral.i got the house in the divorce settlement, but did not learn of the $50,000 lien til i tried to refinance the home about 3 years after the divorce.
She shouldn't have done that - it's illegal. You can hire an Attorney and prosecute her.

Hi blknuke!

Welcome to forums!

I agree with what Raymond has said. It is illegal to forge signatures. You should consult an attorney and take legal actions against her. But again, it may be difficult for you to get rid of the lien unless it is paid off.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Sorry for what happened.Though for the lien you might have to settle the debt.It depends how bad you need the financing.Hope your ex wife will accept to pay to avoid without you being forced to take her to court.

It is illegal to forge anybody's signature. Get in touch with your attorney and see what can be done. If possible, talk with your ex-wife and ask why she had done it. Ask her to help you pay off the lien or else you will have no other way, other than taking her to the court.
