Desparate Couple in Tn

We were on Chapter 13 for approximately 3 years and paid without fail. They took the payment from my paycheck but we were able to survive on my husband's disability check. (He worked at the same job for 16+ years and was diagnosed with heart problems in 2004). I was taken off of work in August of 2010 by my doctor for health reasons. I was then laid off in Sept of 2010. I was told that my position was no longer available. I am on unemployment and we do the best we can with that and my husbands disability income. We paid what we could into the bankruptcy court but they have just dismissed our case for non payment. I have filed for disability as well but have not heard anything from them. I have started to say to heck with that and return to work and do the best I can. I have been looking for a job but cannot find one ANYWHERE! Anyway, we will need to come up with an excruciating amount of money to keep our house, which we have lived in for 16 years, and our vehicles, which we have had for a several years. I don't really care about one of the vehicles, it can go back, but we need some transportation, so we would need a total of $15K to catch up on our house and vehicles. It is my understanding that the creditors go back and charge you all of the interest and penalties from the beginning of your arrearages (prior to bankruptcy) because of failure to meet the Chapter 13 obligation for the full 5 years. So, with my inability to find a job and the fact that we have absolutely no money or equity or anything, we are doomed, it seems! Does anyone know of any loop holes or any programs for folks like us in this position? Are we forced to give up everything that we worked so hard for and start over? We have nowhere to go. No family and no one that can help us so if you know of anything at all, please please post. Thanks so much.
Hi nbradford!

Welcome to forums!

As you're facing financial problems, you could have requested for a hardship discharge. I will suggest you to contact your bankruptcy attorney and take his suggestions in this regard.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
