Quit Claim Deed in Tennessee

Posted on: 13th Feb, 2011 07:10 pm
My father purchased property with his name only on the title. He then declared my husband and myself as co-owners and drew up a document stating such and had it notarized, with the amount of our equity, which was filed with the county tax assessor. He then quit claimed the property to a non-family member. He passed away this last week and we want to pursue what we believe to be our right. Do we have any rights and how can we claim such rights.
Welcome Marie,

If you have the copy of the document which mentions you as the co-owner of the property, then you should contact your attorney and take his opinion in this matter. He will guide you whether or not you can claim the property.
