I heard of an unusual old TN law, whereby the widow's mortgage is automatically paid in full. She would have to consult an attorney to draw up the proper paperwork.
Hi kathleenstrach!
Welcome to the forums!
I am sorry to say but I haven't heard of any such law in TN.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

I have never heard of such a thing. Although, I wouldn't put it too far past the realm of possibility since there was once a time when it was rare for a woman to work. I have also seen several very strange laws over the years. Such as in GA, it is illegal to eat chicken with a fork, and in VA you can still beat your wife on the courthouse steps. I wouldn't doubt that it may have been a law at one time but has been replaced/rescinded by a new law.
