my husband and i have been accepted for a home mortgage refinance but have been informed that we have to wait one year between refinances. our last refinace was in march 2010 and we intend to change to a va home mortgage asap.
is there actually a texas law as this?
would the rules be the same if the mortgage lender were in another state than texas?

Hi femcleroy,
As far as I know, normally lenders won't be ready to refinance your mortgage so soon. You have mentioned that you refinanced your mortgage in March 2010. You need to wait for 8-10 months minimum in order to get another refinance.
Thanks

Texas voters placed this provision in the Texas Constitution as a consumer protection. Because closing costs and points are collected each time a mortgage loan is closed, generally it's not a good idea to refinance often.
