My mother is now living with me with demencia. We all live in Texas and the only assets she has is a small house, which my only brother and I will be inheriting at the time of her death as states her will. There is only 2 siblings my brother and I. Since I moved her in with me, and the house is 100 miles from me, we decided the best thing to do was to let my niece (my brother's daughter - my mothers grandaughter) move into the house, rent free, (she pays her utilities) and take care of it for us..now we are afraid we may have to resort to a nursing home for my mom. She has no other assets other than this house. Will medicaid take her home at her death and if so how do we prevent this from happening. Thanks so much.

Medicaid can takeover the home in order to recover their dues. You need to check out whether or not a ladybird deed is applicable in your state. If it's applicable, then you can ask your mother to transfer the property to you and your brother using that deed. It will not lower her chances of receiving Medicaid benefit.
