I live in TX. My wife died without a will. Do her children(my stepchildren) inherit half of her half interest in our house?I'm still paying the mortgage. If so, can I get them to sign a quitclaim deed to revert their interest to me?
Hi robert,
As there is no will, the stepchildren can claim a share of your wife's portion. If they wish, then they can sign a quitclaim deed and revert their interest in the property to you.
Thanks

In Texas, a spouse inherits the wife's estate, so her interest in the property would go to you.
