If I foreclose on my home in Virginia, can the bank put a lien against my property in Pennsylvania? The property in PA is much smaller and we can afford the payment. Husband was hurt at work and we are fighting with worker's comp who has cut off benefits. With no income, we can't afford both mortgages. Seems smarter to move to the home we can afford and foreclose on the larger more expensive home in Virginia.
Hi carogenius,
The lender may place a lien on your property located in Pennsylvania but in order to do so, he will have to file a lawsuit in the court of Pennsylvania and get a judgment. It will be completely your lender's discretion whether or not he would file such a lawsuit.
Thanks
