i am currently preparing a will . Can I leave my property to my wife and son equally but in the event of my wife's demise , the entire property goes to my son and not my step-daughter?
yes you can write that into your will, your attorney would know the wording of it.
Yep. Just make sure you have a good lawyer to help you draft it.
I've seen all too many cases where the will was not done properly or could not be found and very bad situations were caused by it.
