Taking my name off the property

Posted on: 04th Feb, 2006 03:43 pm
I am trying to take my name off the house that is in my sisters and my name. Can I sign the quit claim over to her or over to my mother. My mother lives there with her. I have never lived in the house or ever made the payments its been those two.
Hi Magen,

Welcome to MortgageFit Forums.

It's good to see that you want your sister and mother to fully enjoy the rights of the house.

Yes, you can do it with quit claim and leave your interests in the property to your sister and your mother.

God bless you.

How can the name be remove from title without charge. Quick claim has been completed to remove name from property

Hi,

You can take your name off the title by preparing a deed that helps to transfer the title of ownership of the property. But I guess it will take some charges. After all, it is a legal matter and so it will require you to pay some amount of cash.

What you can do is just approach an attorney and ask him to prepare a deed for the transfer of the title.

Thanks,
Jerry

welcome gavin,

if you want to remove your name from the mortgage, your brother will have to refinance the mortgage in his name. but as you have mentioned that you are 2 months behind payments, i don't think the lender will agree to refinance. you will have to first pay off the dues and then try for a refinance.

hi,
yes, you can off the your name from house.and you can put name of your sister & mother.so you can go by quit claim. a quit claim deed allows the owner to sign over all ownership and financial interests in a property.
so try to gather information from any agent .

or you can go in refinance way so you can remove your name from your house property title. refinance has some rule to follow.

i hope you understand.
