I submitted the voe but now they the underwriters are asking for me to write up a memo stating that i plan to have this job for at least three years more. i wrote i plan to retrire with the U.s. army my employer. this just seems above and beyond what they are asking for. it sounds discrmentory who can guarentee they keep their jobs. i know i can stay in the army or get out if i wanted to, but if i am buying a house why would i quit my job, stupid memo if you ask me.

i forgot to add they wanted my employer to state in the memo that there is nothing that the believe would prevent me from keeping this job longer than 12 months. I believe it was because my ETS date on my LES states 2012

I have to say I'm unaware of any restriction for military as far as an ETS is concerned. Obviously, they're nervous that you will leave the service, find the job market unbelievably soft (like now), and end up with a lower income, thus forcing you into default because you can't make the payments.
Three years seems like they're just trying overkill. If you write such a letter, do they claim that they'll hold you to it? If so, that's stupid, to be precise.
Ask if this is a regulatory requirement and, if so, that they provide you with chapter and verse. I can see the VOE request for a greater than 12 month expectancy, but not the other foolishness.
