My name is still on my ex-wife

My name is still on my ex-wife

My name is still on my ex-wife's mortgage because she has been unable to get it financed in her name only. She has fallen several months behind on the mortgage and has now been approved for a loan modification. I filed chapter 7 and included this mortgage in my bankruptcy which was discharged a couple of months ago. She now wants me to sign the papers for the loan modification. If I sign these papers, will it make me responsible for this loan again?

Hi Guest, You have been discharged from the obligation to pay off the loan as you had filed Chapter 7. So, you won't be liable for paying off the mortgage in any way. However, I will suggest you to contact your bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion before signing the loan modification docs. Thanks
