Sussane, my wife is thinking of drafting a quit claim deed. After the mother signs it, and gets it notarized. She will need to get it recorded, would that then automatically and legally take her off the property??Does the wife need to worry about anything else after that?

I guess your wife's mother is transferring the property to your wife. Once the mother signs the deed and it is recorder at the county recorder's office, your wife will become the owner of the property. Your wife does not need to worry about anything else. She can get the property tax documents transferred in her name later on.

You should also make sure all the DOT's have been properly released on the property.
