Warranty Deed (1/2 Interest)

My mother recently passed away. The warranty deed on her house gives her heirs 50% interest in her home upon her death. The other 50% belongs to my stepfather. How do my siblings and I claim our interest in the home. My stepfather is refusing to communicate with us and is being downright hateful. Please advise.

You will probably have to wait until he passes and then collect - tough to force him out -  You may ask him to refinance and pay out the 1/2 but again I do not think you can force him (you might be able to if you go through the courts)   Good Luck Brian Barnes Brian@AimWithFocus.com Mortgage Lender all 50 states
