Equifax Reporting Problem

Posted on: 08th Mar, 2008 06:44 am
After reviewing my most recent credit report I noticed that I have some issues with my Equifax report. Here goes:

I had a mortgage on a rental property with WaMu that was sold in 12/07. That account on Equifax doesnt list any payment since 4/07.

Our current home is also mortgage with WaMu. That account on Equifax doesnt list any payment since 3/07.

I have an auto loan with HSBC. Equifax lists this as an open account but does not show any payments.

We also have an auto loan with Drive Financial. Again Equifax list this as an open account but does not show any payments.

The other 2 CB show my timely payments on these accounts.

I have written WaMu several times about the missing Equifax data thinking it was their issue. I never noticed the missing auto loan payments. How do I get this corrected?

Thanks
write your letters directly to Equifax, and ask them to update your credit file with the current information. I would recommend calling them if you have a current Equifax credit file in front of you

I have a subscription to truecredit rather than a paper copy. The only Equifax phone number I have come across is an automated system, cant speak to anyone. I written directly to them and have not received a response.

Welcome to Forum Jossep,

Another alternative is to go on the Equifax website and issue a dispute about the various accounts. They will send you a letter wth a number on there. That is the only way you will be able to get a live person to talk to. You will first have to order your credit report which costs $8.00 and use a preprinted number on there to dispute the items.

Good luck,

Contact them directly and let them know that you want this fixed so that it does not reflect badly on your credit. The problem must be on their end of things since it is more than one company that is misreported. You can send them copies of your bills showing that they were paid and on time, they should update it pretty quickly. goodluck, hope this all works out to your benefit and soon.

I had a problem like this and just disputed it, I am waiting on the results, on the positive reporting it shows a bill NEVER LATE and then on the negative it shows a 30 days late on the same bill. I am hoping to get the late 30 days removed.

I wonder how they come up with that? I mean how can something be late and 30 days late at the same time? Hope you can get it taken care of without too much of a hassle.

I got the results and of course it is not taken care of, I will have to take further steps, like writing them a letter, it is really time consuming when they mess up your report.

tHAT IS REALLY A SHAME. YOU THINK A DISPUTE COULD HAVE SIMPLY CLEARED UP THE MATTER. NO WONDER A PERSON GETS DISCUTED. HOPE YOU CAN GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF.

I am looking at going through something like lexington law firm, I was talking to someone today who said that he had a lot of success in removing a lot his negatives from his report. I would be interested in if anyone here has used anything like this.

I don't really have enough on my report to go to that extent (thankfully). It would be very useful info though. Jbarto you could post any info you have on this. Do you know what the cost for this service is by any chance?

I will once I have more information you can google it yourself and see what you can come up with, I am sure that there is a lot of information out there on them. I have heard of them before, just did not know what exactly they did.

Let us know. I was watching Montel today and they had an identity fraud special. I remember reading somewhere about these companies on one of the posts so I watched the show. They had a Lifelock rep on who says their company can keep track of your credit plus gaurentee to cover all charges and take care of any problems that arise if you subscribe to their service. What really surprised me is their fee was only $10 a month. They also said someone could do that theirselves if they wanted. I know this isn't the same thing but after spending so much time on credit repair and most people pay at least $10 in credit bills I figue it would be worth it. What do you think?

I have always thought that no one would want to steal my identity with my score, LOL.

When you see the show see if they target any particular type of person, with any particular score?

jbarto, you mean someone stealing your score?

I just don't think that they would get anywhere with my credit in the shape it is in right now. I can't even get a credit card, how would they?
