American Debt Foundation - Is anyone ripped off?

Posted on: 01st Jan, 2007 12:46 pm
has anyone else been ripped off by American Debt Foundation or American Debt Corp?
I have one friend who told that they are harrassing him for full payment plus late fee repayments.

He calls them nobody returns the calls, signing with them is more of hassel, its better to make arrangement with your creditor directly & not to get into any program with them .

One of my relatives has once dealt with this company and faced a lot of problems. The company never informed him about the updates and they never responded to his call nor did they respond if he left a message to call him back.

I don't know why but most creditors are not willing to negotiate with the American debt.

I had once enrolled myself in the American Debt foundation, Inc and that helped me get out of debt. They are really very helpful.

Now I am free from any debt and I am also applying for credit and hope to get a couple of offers in a few weeks

Yes...after paying my obligatory amount, I was told that my issues with my creditors had been resolved. About 8 months later, I started to receive letters from my creditors and even a couple of summons stating that my debts were outstanding. When I tried to contact ADF....the number had been changed and I was unable to contact my "representative". My advice is...DON'T GET INVOLVED with ADF.

AMERICAN DEBT FOUNDATION ARE FOR REAL, THEY HELP ME GET OUT OF MY DEBT OF 50K, IF YOU ARE GETTING HARASSED BY AMERICAN DEBT FOUNDATION YOU ARE PROBALY ALSO GETTING HARASSED FROM COLLETION AGENCY AND CREDIT CARD COMPANYS BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE WANT SOMTHING FOR NOTHIN THIS IS YOUR DEBT IS UP TO YOU AND THE PEOPLE TRYING TO HELP TO RESOLVE THIS, I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO POINT THE FINGER AT THESE TYPES OF COMPANIES BOTTOM LINE IS THAT YOU NEED TO BE RESONSABLE AND PAY YOUR BILLS, COMAN PEOPLE THIS IS NOT 1ST GRADE. PAY YOUR BILLS BE RESPONSABLE!!!!! DEBT SETTLEMENT COMPANIES ARE NOT AT FAULT THEY ARE TRYING TO HELP, AND YET YOU STILL FIND A WAY TO POINT THE FINGER LOOK IN THE MIRROR PEOPLE...PAY YOUR BILL BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!

Welcome Helen.

Good to hear some positive replies on this company. The thing may be you have a good experience with the company and that is why you are sharing this with us and other poster doesn't have so good experience with then and is why they posted and shared their experience with the community. It actually help the people to understand about certain company And there is nothing wrong about it.

By the way I agree with you that people should try to pay their bills on time.

They stole almost $1,000 from me! They said they called my creditors and they didn't! I had to dump them and handle the creditors myself. I wish they would have told me that they were nips at start and were in the business to steal!

Hello Toddly,

Welcome to the community.

If they have done anything wrong wit you or you this they have stolen money why don't you file a complaint with the attorney general's office in your state.

We have been working with American Debt Foundation for 9 months.
We just terminated our account with them.
We are in WORSE shape financially than when we first signed up with them.

ADF takes advantage of people in a very emotionally and financially vulnerable condition with the promise of helping and making things better.

We've been paying them close to $500/mo for 9 months. (about $4,500)

Now, we're being sued by our creditors. All our bank accounts have been frozen and there is NOTHING ADF can do to help us. ADF has NO ATTORNEYS that can do anything for you. We have paid ADF all this money and they have been NO help. We could have used our money to pay a real attorney or simply negotiate with our creditors ourselves. We have WASTED our $4,500 and I feel like we have been robbed. There is no way to recover our $4,500 from them; (though, I am going to use every avenue to try to do that: Report them to the BBB and File a complaint with the Attorney General).

Only now, we have found out that ADF could have NEVER helped us. Our debt was just too great. I only wish they were more honest with us in the beginning.

When you sign up with them, they make it seem like they are there to help you and are on your side. The Christian Debt Consolidators that referred us to ADF kind of reel you in with the God bless you and the talk of how they want to help you.
When I called Christian Debt Consolidators to tell them about our problem with ADF, there was NO compassion for our situation. The gentleman just read me from the "line 7" that there was always a chance that we could get sued. He said there was no guarantee that ADF could help us.

Well, if that's the case, why not TELL US that when we sign the contract? Why not make the fact that you may not be able to help us just as PLAIN and CLEAR as your message that you CAN help us? ADF's methods are VERY DECEPTIVE!

When you try to contact ADF by phone, it is very difficult to get through to them. If you finally get through, they are very little help. They honestly seem like a bunch of college kids that don't know what they are doing. If they can't answer your question at the time, and say they will call you back; they NEVER do.

You receive NO monthly updates/COMMUNICATION from ADF about your account unless you call Customer service and request it.

This whole situation has been AWFUL. We were in a vulnerable financial and emotional condition to begin with and now it's even WORSE!

Please, spare yourselves the misery and WASTE of your money and emotions and DO NOT sign up with them. I would NEVER recommend doing business with American Debt Foundation.

If you have a lot of debt, I would recommend that you just get a real debt/bankruptcy attorney. My opinion is that they will be able to help far more than American Debt Foundation.

The ADF is a rip-off organization. If you are having problems getting your credit card bills paid - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, do NOT call the ADF, you will be in court pleading your own case before you know it. After being with the ADF for 4 months I terminated my association with them. Do yourself a BIG favor - deal with the credit card companies yourself - you can do it - I did, and it's working nicely.
