section 8 application status

Posted on: 12th Mar, 2009 12:19 am
I would really like to know the status of my section 8 application. I applied a few years ago. I have a prospect number. But I dont know where to go to check it.I went on hacla.org. But i dont see a link to check status. I also would like to just update my information because I now have a 1yr old.
I was wondering when I was going to hear something about hud

martha, i was not "getting smart" with anyone. it is readily apparent that those seeking section 8 help aren't going to get much help on here. the MortgageFit website has nothing to do with section 8. it is merely a forum for people to discuss topics worthy of note. obviously, section 8 qualifies as one of those topics.

but none of those who are asking how their application is going, etc. will find any valid information here. that is a situation that absolutely must be brought up with the housing agency of the location in which they've applied.

why you had to end your post with an expletive is incomprehensible to me. let's face it...i cannot help someone with the status of their section 8 request. i can, however, suggest ways in which to find that information out. that's all i'm trying to do.

I would really like to know my status on the waiting list....

kayla, our site here doesn't have the information you want. where did you apply? that's where you need to go back to in order to get the information you need. it's probably your best bet to do an internet search to find the local phone number (look up under "housing authority" for whatever city you applied in.

Hi jacob,

If you want to know about the current status of your section 8 application, you need to get in touch with the local housing authority. Most of us on this forum do not have access to this information. So, I can only refer you to those who actually have access to that information and I believe they are the right people to answer the queries regarding your section 8 application status. Call the local housing authority or contact them in person.

i wish i knew the laws, regulations and decision-making gears of every office of hud that deals with section 8 in the nation. that way i could answer some of these questions without being criticized for telling the truth.

there is only one way for a person who has applied for section 8 assistance to determine the status of that request. it is to contact, directly, the office at which they applied for the assistance. unless there's a national clearing house that also answers those kinds of questions, then people need to go back to the source.

i sincerely hope that this is helpful information for those in need.

does anybody know if the housing market is a good buyer market now?
Posted on: 28th Feb, 2010 01:33 pm
Hi Johnson,

The housing market has not yet recovered fully and is still struggling with the ill-effects of the sub-prime mortgage crisis. However, it is now showing signs of improvement. From a buyer's point of view, it is now a good time to purchase a property. The interest rates on mortgages are quite low now and the real estate prices are not too high. Besides, there is an extra incentive of the first time home buyer tax credit of $8000. So, if you are planning to buy a property, this would be a good time to do so.
