Hi Rosalind and Bianca,
Have you contacted the local housing authority through which you applied for the section 8 housing assistance? They should be able to let you know about the current status of your section 8 application.

i have an application already in Philadelpia, but i want to relocate to another state what do i have to do
Hi Syreeta,
The section 8 housing assistance program is administered and regulated by individual states. The requirements to qualify for the section 8 can vary from one state to another. But given you meet the eligibility requirements to qualify for this housing assistance in the new state, you might be able to transfer the status of your section 8 application from your current state to the new state. However, you need to contact housing authorities in both the states to know if such a transfer would be possible or if you will have to reapply for the housing assistance.

JUST WANT MY STATUS NO MATTER WHO I CALL I GET NOTHING

Be careful, Savior. Any time you provide a direct answer, you stand in the position to be criticized for being too stern. Trust me in this...I know.
George... The reason people are asking these questions is because in most places the Section 8 department of HUD is "CLOSED", you cant get any information from the pre-recorded message that tells you to wait until your contacted!
Thanks
Thanks
Hi jco,
Just in case people cannot contact the local Housing Authority over the phone, I think contacting them in person might be effective. It is at least worth a try, I believe. If the Section 8 department is closed, as you have mentioned, then it will be quite hard for people to get the information about the status of their section 8 application.

Jco, can you explain what that means, please? How is it that the Section 8 department of HUD can be closed? You don't mean the office that exists AT HUD, right? Are you simply talking about the housing authority in the particular city...and how can you be certain that they are closed all over the nation? Honestly, that doesn't make sense.
And my question to all the posters - where did they apply? - is specifically aimed at trying to get them some help. If only we could determine where they applied, we might better give them a hint on who to call next.
Jenkin7's notation of it being "quite hard" is an understatement, at the very least.
