Posted on: 12th Mar, 2009 12:19 am
I would really like to know the status of my section 8 application. I applied a few years ago. I have a prospect number. But I dont know where to go to check it.I went on hacla.org. But i dont see a link to check status. I also would like to just update my information because I now have a 1yr old.
Hi Linda,

Did you contact the local Housing Authority through which you applied for the Section 8? They can provide you with the information regarding the current status of your Section 8 application. Which state and which county are you in? If you can give that information, someone might be able help you with more information.

To Tracy,

Through which local Housing Authority did you apply for the Section 8? Have you checked with them the status of your application? Actually, this piece of information is not easily accessible to general public. So, I'm not sure if anyone but the local Housing Authority can provide you with the required information. However, if you can tell us which state and county you are in, someone might be able to direct you to a particular department or a person who perhaps can inform you about the status of your application.

Hi Gisela,

The Section 8 housing assistance program is a HUD initiative which aims at helping low-income families find an affordable home. If you want to get Section 8 assistance, you need to get in touch with your local Public Housing Authority or your nearest HUD office.

Your eligibility for the Section 8 assistance depends on your annual gross income, the size of your family, etc. Generally, your famil income should not be more than 50% of your countys median income. This income level varies from one county to another and is published by HUD.

However, it does take time for you to get the Section 8 assistance. While you apply for it, you should try and rent an affordable home on your own.

Hi Eboni,

You need to check with the local Public Housing Authority through which you applied for the Section 8? They should be able to provide you with the required information. Which state and county are you living in?

Hi ann,

It is the public housing authority who will be able to help you. If you have received the information that you are at the top of the list, then you got to believe it.

Thanks

Look all of u, If you havent foundout anything from your local office try this waitlistcheck.com. If it lets you login then you have been approved section 8 and havent recieved a letter stating so. I know it works for ppl in TN so it might work for you. And if you cant get Section 8 and u need assistance try checking into the HPRP program. This is a special help and assistance line *211. Ur Welcome.
