Respectfully, George M. Akerley, I have to ask you to pull your head out of your ass. Telling people to work directly with banks is like asking someone not to hire an attorney in court. Sure its alot cheaper but the person knows nothing about what there doing. Going through HUD is like going through a public defender; you get what you pay for, which is nothing. I understand George that you are trying to help people but you need to research what you say. 90% of a loan modification is based on a homeowners' financials and submission. If any of this is done wrong; the file will be declined. I am not arguing that mod companies may not be doing what they promise but telling people to go directly to the bank is even worse. CNN has just recently released articles that the banks are converting only about 4% of the trial mods into permanent mods. So if you do not know what are you doing; be prepared to be eaten by the true monster, which is the bank. Car mechanics are known to rip people off; so would advise people not to trust any mechanic at all and attempt to fix their brakes by themselves??? Hey, why not its free right? Your heart is the right place George but before you play Robin Hood; research all spectrums of your advice first because you being doing your listeners more harm!!

well, let's see - you talk about mechanics and that i might think people ought to do the job themselves...well, no, that's out of the question. but i sure wouldn't advocate that they get themselves a middle man to negotiate with the mechanic to see that the work got done right. that's not even a germane reference to the topic at hand. please argue more effectively, more politely, more reasonably, if you want me to pay attention to you.

they said they could help me keep my home, but first I had to pay them 2495.00. I was told not to make any more house payments and to pay them first. I did. then I got the run around, they kept switching the person I was to contact. they did that so long that I started getting a foreclosure notice. I call and told them that and the run around kept going. Long story short. I am loosing my home. They called me a week before my forclosuer date and said they can not help. massed up my credit and they will not give me my money back that STOLED.

I hired this so called law firm USMAC I lost my house today at 3:00pm. They are liars and thiefs. As soon as you pay for there so called services you never here from them again. When you try calling in you get voice mail. Or by mistake you get to talk to Dan Moder. That guy is a joke. He ripped me off, lied to me and I lost my house because of his pathetic lies. I hope USMAC burns in hell. You to Dan Moder you liar.

I work for a bank and its very painful to see people paying these so called "3rd Party Companies" a fortune to get something done which was free of cost in reality!

I agree totally with George, People should go to Hud.gov and there is a huge list of Non-profit organisations which are willing to help you free of cost.

Common perception of people is that if they pay they will get good results and if they take free assistance they will end up getting nothing...Now that's a complete lie.

Have paid this group $2995 (of which I should've continued to pay to my lenders). Won't go into all of the details at this time, however; I'd stay away from them!! Yes, I will more than likely join in on a class action law suit. I'm quite certain that things are not going to work out, and I WANT MY MONEY BACK...... I'm heartsick over the fact that people like this, during these difficult times are truly engaging in dishonesty and taking our hard earned money. I'll continue to read.

you should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER pay a large sum of money to one of these outfits that claims to be able to assist you in a modification. their guarantees are worthless, their whole scheme is to take the money and run, unfortunately.
