Lost title on mobile home

Posted on: 18th Nov, 2007 06:41 pm
A friend purchase a mobile home and lost the title on this home. How can the title be replaced when she does not know the name of the person on the title. The mobile home should have a number on a plate but also unable to locate that. What can be done? Can anyone help.
Hi Dale!

Welcome to the forums!

I don't think that the bill of sale will suffice. Nevertheless, you should contact the DMV and check out if they can help you in this matter.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Hello, My friends father passed away, and we cannot find the title to his double wide. It had another owner before him and we don't know any of his information. We did find the Serial number and where it was manufactured, but that company has since closed. We went to DMV, said they could not help us. Friend wants to sell property. We don't know what to do. Thank you

Well, you can ask your friend to replace the tile of the mobile home through processing a duplicate title application at a Secretary of State Branch office. The title company can definitely help you to find a duplicate one.

I was given a trailer/mobile home from someone and she said that she never had the title as she only had it for 2 yrs and used and owned it only during the winter months to be closer to work. she said the person who sold it to her told her she had the title and never ended up having one in the long run. but the last person owed a lot in taxes but the lady that gave it to me ended up paying the taxes off right before she gave it to me as the taxes were in her name.she said tht i should be able to go to the dmv to file for a lost title.but i just didnt know if that was for sure what i am to do. Also, i wasnt sure what info i wld need and how it usually works?
